This shot was taken from a little chapel overlooking Porthmeor bay, in St Ives. It’s normally full of surfers but it was a quiet evening, so not many about.
This is on the verge of being a bit too HDR-ified for me - but I think the colours and texture of ali’s coat have swung it. I think it has a nice dreamy quality to it.
Some vaguely technical info: HDR, 3 bracketed images (AEB), iso 100, f/22, canon 450d, tripod, combined in photomatix pro.

Hi Everyone (anyone?!)
I thought I’d start this blog to keep track of my favourite images and where they were taken, as my interest in photography turns gradually into an all consuming addiction that will surely be the end of me.
First off:

This was taken just before dawn in the harbour of St Ives, Cornwall. I was in bed and noticed some orange light coming through the curtains, and realised that I was going to have to get up and go outside because the sunrise was going to be too nice to miss. Ten minutes later I was standing in the shallow water on some steps leading down into the harbour, setting up my tripod whilst getting odd looks from fishermen and bakery staff.
Still… worth it I hope.
