I got my lenses back from lending them to andy today, and celebrated by skiving off for a few hours. Amongst a lot of more interesting subjects, this bus stop with trees turned out to be my favourite image of the shoot - I think it’s the way the light is catching the trees.

This is at a weir near Pillings Lock, in between Barrow upon Soar and Loughborough. I’ve been playing around recently with two neutral density filters (basically expensive bits of dark plastic that fit into a holder over the lens) to darken everything so I can take long exposure shots during the day. This is a .9 stop filter and a .6 stop filter laid over each other to give me a 1.5 stop filter (or at least I think that’s how it should work).
The result… nice blurry water in the daytime. Huzzah!

I was driving home from a meeting near Dudley with my camera in the car, and was being teased by a glorious sunset which had me wanting to stop the car every hundred yards, but everywhere I could stop had something in the way of the sunset. Finally, when I thought I’d missed the boat, I went past a track next to this field with the crows in, and parked dangerously on the wrong side of the road to rattle off a few shots.
A far from perfect picture, but I love the colours and the birds. You can’t have everything
